1-Let’s rewind to the genesis. Was there a specific moment, a song, an artist, or maybe even a feeling that sparked your journey into music?
My whole life music has always played a part as far back I can remember it was just always being played and made me want to make music as a kid I used to karaoke songs on the radio when I was little all the time
2-Who are your biggest musical influences?
Oh man that question could go on for days so ill just give you a few lmao! Dmx, UGK, scarface, disturbed, godsmack, 80/90s country etc there is just so many influeneces in music for me its unreal
3-Beyond the usual suspects, who are some of the lesser-known or perhaps unexpected musical figures who have truly shaped your sound and approach?
Irv Da Phenom, Roblo DaStar, DVRS7, D-Lo the doctor, Jaz Brewer, nesto the owner, sj the artist That list of people will always have a special place in my heart and my music because without that small group of people there honestly probly wouldn’t be a remy rix any more
4-our stage name is [Remy Rix ] – it’s intriguing! What’s the story behind it? Is there a hidden meaning, a personal connection, or a funny anecdote there?
Its pretty much my real name I just want to connect with fans and they know that the things I talk about in my songs I actually do or have been through so I felt why not get personal with them
5-“If you were to paint a sonic picture of your music, what colors, textures, and emotions would be on that canvas? How would you describe your unique musical style in a way that goes beyond genre labels?
Best way I can describe a picture would be… ok im goin to show my age here LMAO! Do you remember the windows media player when you could pick the visuals on the screen? Well I would be the one that changes colors every time the sound changes because one thing about is im not one denominational and my voice alone is on a different level
6-Take us into your creative sanctuary. What does your writing and recording process feel like? Is it a solitary journey, a collaborative explosion, or something in between? Walk us through the emotions and energy involved?
When I write its just me I like to have 4 or 5 songs done before I go to the studio I don’t like to go to the studio and waste time writing at the studio is cool and all but id rather go in there and just knock em. Now when I go to the studio I always book 5 hours sessions and I take the producer of the beats that day with me I some times bring Origination Frame with me to shoot behind the scenes footage.
It never fails though my sessions always turn into a party because I bring the people im doing features with because I like it to sound the same so they come to my session that way I have the same engineer Jaz Brewer who records mixes and masters the whole song so it sounds the same but its always a vibe and the close homies pull up and working with Jaz you never know what amazing Kanas City artist will walk through.. hell ive met Rich the Factor, Brandoshi, YGKC, Sovi Haze, Head Da Don and so many other well known artists from the town while I was in there recording BUT don’t let the party vibe fool you the folks in the session may party but I spend my time in the booth recording my songs don’t get me wrong ill get out the booth when the song is finished and let Jaz work it over a bit while I smoke a joint but I get my 4 to 5 songs dong
7-Music has the power to move and inspire. What conversations do you hope to spark with your music? What core message or feeling do you want listeners to walk away with?
I just hope my music sparks conversations and lets people who don’t talk about certain things its ok you aren’t alone in whatever it is they going through im sure youll be able to find a song of mine about it
8-Let’s dive into your latest project [Off The Chain]. What was the driving force behind this creation? What themes did you explore, and what makes this project stand out from your previous work?
This project was my official rebranding of “Remy” but Roblo DaStar had posted online that she was giving a set amount of artist the chance to get 5 features for a set price so I got her paid and if you know Roblo DaStar you CAN NOT just do a track with her you HAVE to bring the energy she is an amazing artist and with this ep I knew I not only had to bring the energy but I had to bring the bars because she super cold with them bars and I had to just bring and all around different approach (which I had been working on with the rebranding anyways) I mean I had Irv Da Phenom listen to it when we first finished recording it and he liked the whole project but told me I could do better on 2 of the songs and most people get upset but I don’t because that’s why I asked Irv because he will give you his honest opinion and when Irv says something you listen so I rewrote both the songs and re recorded them one of them stuck one of them we left the same because Roblo and everyone loved the first take but the entire vibe while recording this project was just literally “off the chain” because Roblo and myself recorded the thing together at Jaz spot 64111 Studios he recorded mixed and mastered the entire project and the entire 5 piece ep was produced D-Lo The Doctor this man is at ANY studio session I have he just loves the music in general but I had him there because he produced the so the that EVERYTHING on that ep was done in house just means a lot to me because this is some of the best work ive ever put out
9-he creative journey isn’t always smooth. What’s the biggest hurdle you face when bringing your musical visions to life, and how do you navigate those challenges?
I aint gonna lie… depression is one the the biggest things that stopped my music but since ive been able to find the peace in my life everything has just… idk… I guess the best way to explain it is “everything happens when its supposed to” but when things like that do come up ill “reset” ill sit back and take time to myself leave my phone alone and just do me for a few hours but once I get through that and get back the writing the rest just seems to happen the way its supposed to so I let it do what it do… I guess
10-Criticism is part of the game. How do you personally process feedback, both positive and negative? Is it fuel, a filter, or something you try to tune out entirely?
Ok so let me explain something I take criticism but I don’t take criticism from arm chair quaterbacks if you aren’t in my position or a better I pay you no mind but those who actually have the experience and knowledge I will listen too that is one of the first things people will tell you about me is that I take it well and I use it to better myself and my craft because no one is perfect
11-Every artist faces roadblocks on their path. Can you share a pivotal moment where you faced a significant obstacle in your musical journey, and what did you learn from overcoming it?
Im be quick and brief on this topic… I had to quit music while I was married because my ex wife didn’t like it BUT I did learn never with with anyone who wants you to change to fit how they think you should be
12-Let’s dream big for a moment. If you could collaborate with any artist, living or not, who would be at the top of your list and why? What kind of magic do you think you could create together?
DMX and UGK on the same track with me would be amazing the blending of 4 different voices no one would expect
13-Creative blocks are a universal struggle. Can you recall a time when you hit a wall creatively, and what unconventional or surprising methods did you use to break through and reignite your inspiration?
That’s funny because that’s how love exists came to be… I want to do something different and couldn’t figure out what I wanted to do next to step out my box and then brandoshis hit me up and asked if I was still interested in collaborating still and he is a singer so I got a hold of DVRS7 and the second I heard the beat I wanted to do almost a late 90s early 00s rap/ rnb and I wrote the song in about 30 minutes
14-Looking back on your journey so far, what moment or achievement makes you feel the most proud and fulfilled as a musician? What resonated deeply with you?
Im one of those people I just recently started enjoying little wins because I would look past those and always focus on the finish and in the process I missed out on so many things I could have been proud of but the release of the ep has taught me to sit back and enjoy the beautiful scenery and soak it all in
15-Every place has its own rhythm. How has your hometown and community shaped your sound, your stories, and your perspective as an artist? Are there specific sounds or experiences that are woven into your music?
If you listen to the lyrics and the story of the words you will understand everything that you need to know about me
16-If you could go back and whisper some words of wisdom to your younger, aspiring artist self, what would you say? What’s the most crucial piece of advice you’d offer to those just starting out?
Don’t listen to what everyone says always be yourself do not water your self down for anyone make sure you are happy first
17-When you step away from the studio and the stage, what recharges your creative batteries? What passions or hobbies do you indulge in to find balance and inspiration outside of music?
Ill play xbox or bbq and shoot pool I like to find new places to eat I like a nice country drive too
18-The music industry is a complex landscape. What aspects of it do you truly appreciate and find rewarding, and conversely, what are some of the frustrations or challenges you’ve encountered?
The frustatiing part is that a lot thinks this industry is free this industry is going to cost you money it cost to buy beats record mix master shoot videos radio campaigns exposure everything has a price and just because you expect yourself to go viral doesn’t mean you will
Now on the flip side one of the most rewarding things is actually seeing your hard work and dedication paying off its just a beautiful thing to see
19-Your fans are the heartbeat of your musical journey. How do you cultivate that connection and create a community around your music? What does that relationship mean to you?
This goes back to the whole you can find a song to connect wth of mine if you look because a lot of my songs are about life experiences but some of them are released yet which I have over 10 tracks getting ready to come out on top of the 7 that are already out but there will be a song that you can c onnect with and as long as that song helps you feel better or brings back memories etc but to be able to connect with a fan because of my songs is amazing because I make my music to express the journeys ive been on and some of the things ive done
20-Your musical journey is a constant education. What’s been the most profound lesson you’ve learned so far, something that has truly shaped your approach as an artist and as a person?
In the words of Jaz Brewer “PROGRESSION” no but seriously every time I book a session it is better than the last because every session Jaz teaches me something new because Jaz is not just a award winning engineer he is also a professor at a college and teaches music so Jaz is one of those people that when they say something you listen because they are trying to teach you not belittle you
21-Take us back to a performance that’s etched in your memory. What made it so unforgettable? Was it the energy of the crowd, a personal breakthrough, or something unexpected that happened on stage?
It was one of the shows when we were on the set in stone tour with stevie stone we had done like 6 shows out of town and then the tour came through independence Missouri and back in the day I was ignorant I used to make the crowd chant “fuck you remy” when I waso n stage so we had got on stage and they started chanting that and singing along with our songs and that’s when I knew I was made for this
22-Looking ahead, what’s on the horizon for you? What are your aspirations, your dreams, and what exciting projects can fans anticipate in the near future?

23-Stepping onto the stage is a unique experience. What’s the biggest challenge you navigate as a performer, and how do you overcome it to deliver a powerful show?

24-Life throws curve balls. Can you share a time when you faced significant adversity, either personally or professionally, and how you channeled that experience into your music or your artistic growth?
If im being 100% honest in 2017 I was a felon for distribution but long story short it has definitely helped when I tell my life stories in my music
25-In your opinion, what’s the most indispensable quality for an artist striving for success in today’s music world? Is it resilience, creativity, authenticity, or something else entirely?

26-The music industry can be demanding. What keeps your fire burning? How do you stay motivated and laser-focused on your goals, especially when faced with challenges?
At the end of the day I am doing what I need to do to secure my future and live comfortably in life while I enjoy making music at the same time
27-Do you have a particular song or project in your discography that feels especially close to your heart? What’s the story behind it, and why does it resonate so deeply with you?
This latest ep that just dropped because it is truly my work of art to me it is my masterpiece the fact I was able to put this project together is just a life goal for me I never thought I would admit I have a masterpiece
28-Artists often reflect and shape society. What do you believe is the role of an artist in the world today? Do you see yourself as a storyteller, a commentator, a healer, or something else entirely?
I consider myself a storyteller but the stories I tell are real they aren’t fabricated to fit an image or a persona the things you hear ive actually done
29-Touring is a whirlwind experience. What are the highs and lows of life on the road for you? What do you love most about touring, and what aspects do you find the most challenging?
