1-Let’s rewind to the genesis. Was there a specific moment, a song, an artist, or maybe even a feeling that sparked your journey into music?
This is more evocative and invites a story.) I’ve always been familiar with music me and my older brother would freestyle as kids but what made me want to pursue music as a career is more of like as if it chose me in a way, my older brother was the one who wanted to be a rapper and right before he passed I made a promise to him that I would make it for the both of us and that’s what started this.
2-Who are your biggest musical influences?
I don’t really have a big music influences I like what I like rap/rnb/rock/country an take a little from here a little from there as inspiration to create my own version or idea of it if that makes sense.
3-Beyond the usual suspects, who are some of the lesser-known or perhaps unexpected musical figures who have truly shaped your sound and approach?
I mean I could say that the less known people inspire me to go even harder because the way they move an I mean that NOT in a good way, especially out in Texas the first buzz a artist get they hold nuts on everyone else or atleast that’s my take on it. Shout out to them tho I wouldn’t be who I am today without yall fr.
4-Whats your stage name is ( Fedd Winners ) it’s intriguing! What’s the story behind it? Is there a hidden meaning, a personal connection, or a funny anecdote there?
Fedd Winners, really the winners come from my older brother his artist name was “Ken winters” and I adopted “feddii” in prison so I kinda just took the 2 and made it into 1 I pronounce Winters like “Winners” so I made it that an I didn’t want people confusing me for fetty wap or any other fetty so it’s “Fedd” 2 D’s 2 I’s no T’s no Y’s.
5-If you were to paint a sonic picture of your music, what colors, textures, and emotions would be on that canvas? How would you describe your unique musical style in a way that goes beyond genre labels?
Honestly I’d let my music paint itself because I’d like to see it’d be bright but I know it’s dark I ain’t gone say it’s all dark but that color mash up would be crazy as far as texture concrete trap doors an peep holes on em and like I said I let my music do the talking , I don’t sound like nobody I have my own sound, my versatility is top tier as far as the different levels of rap or different levels of trapNB and definition of that is making a rap song sound like 10 different rap songs.
6-Take us into your creative sanctuary. What does your writing and recording process feel like? Is it a solitary journey, a collaborative explosion, or something in between? Walk us through the emotions and energy involved?
My process usually involves things in nature of the night life meaning being outside or under the influence or it’s been a late night, I’ll get on my phone pull up some beats an let the beat speak to me till it becomes kinda like I connect to the instrumental an we work together to make a masterpiece.
7-Music has the power to move and inspire. What conversations do you hope to spark with your music? What core message or feeling do you want listeners to walk away with?
I want people to know about not only my struggle bt the struggles of others aswell because a lot of my trapNB slower paced songs is situations we all go through an to stand on business and your word no matter what you look like you can make it with hard work an dedication.
8-Let’s dive into your latest project whats it called What was the driving force behind this creation? What themes did you explore, and what makes this project stand out from your previous work?
Nomo Free Feddii It Cost is actually my first project ever released I usually just drop singles with no structure so I finally got organized and gave the world this, I put a variety of different sounds on this project to my hit singles “Like Skraight” and “Shhh” along with a lot more down to a sexy drill type song called “Let Yo Body Tell It” . This project is to keep still my beginning workings so it’s really no comparison other than my wordplay an understanding of my own voice and sound. There will def be more music and projects are on the way.
9-The creative journey isn’t always smooth. What’s the biggest hurdle you face when bringing your musical visions to life, and how do you navigate those challenges?
Same as everybody else’s, the financial part of it because I can’t speak for everyone but when you have your own place an have rent to pay an your own phone so you actually have bills stacking up isn’t always easy especially when them unexpected bills hit shit be diabolical lol but other than that you know this isn’t too much different from the field I’m familiar with so I play it by ear an move the way that makes more logic to me.
10-Criticism is part of the game. How do you personally process feedback, both positive and negative? Is it fuel, a filter, or something you try to tune out entirely?
I love feedback and I respect everybodies opinion it makes me wanna go harder not to impress the person who gave the criticism but I always love a good challenge.
11-Every artist faces roadblocks on their path. Can you share a pivotal moment where you faced a significant obstacle in your musical journey, and what did you learn from overcoming it?
After losing my brother in 2014 I got finessed and betrayed by the people I thought I could trust the most why? I don’t even know now that I think about it I guess I was still green at that time, but it cost me doing 5 1/2 years in prison 2 1/2 on parole I discharged this past August of 2024 so I’m not on papers anymore but that time of isolation molded me into what you see today so I embrace those scars even though they still hurt till this day.
12-Let’s dream big for a moment. If you could collaborate with any artist, living or not, who would be at the top of your list and why? What kind of magic do you think you could create together?
most definitely have to make a song with Lil Wayne I grew up listening to him and I was born in New Orleans I’d also like to get on a song w Kevin gates, deebaby, The Weeknd, I really got a few none of em urgent but it goes all the way to doing something with Billie eilish and Rihanna.
13-Creative blocks are a universal struggle. Can you recall a time when you hit a wall creatively, and what unconventional or surprising methods did you use to break through and reignite your inspiration?
Those kind of blocks are natural so I accept them I never force my writing, if when I put that beat on an words don’t start jumping at me that’s my sign that I need to take a step back observe what I already have until it passes.
14-Looking back on your journey so far, what moment or achievement makes you feel the most proud and fulfilled as a musician? What resonated deeply with you?
Every experience I have in this game resonates with me weather it’s good or bad because I’m gonna dissect a lesson from it.
15-Every place has its own rhythm. How has your hometown and community shaped your sound, your stories, and your perspective as an artist? Are there specific sounds or experiences that are woven into your music?
As far as sound goes I feel my sound is original and it developed just over a course of time, as an artist one of the hardest things to do is get comfortable with your own voice and I wasn’t gonna be a rapper that rap one way then u see him an voice sound way different how I sound on my music is how I sound in real life.
16-If you could go back and whisper some words of wisdom to your younger, aspiring artist self, what would you say? What’s the most crucial piece of advice you’d offer to those just starting out?
If I went back and tried to tell my younger self some advice to be all the way 100 my younger self wouldn’t be tryna hear NONE of that shit lol and myself now ain’t got time for that bullshit haha
17-When you step away from the studio and the stage, what recharges your creative batteries? What passions or hobbies do you indulge in to find balance and inspiration outside of music?
Besides indulging in a smoke session or spending time with my family I also happen to very good at tattooing I always used to draw growing up to deal with my anger and it turns out I’m a bad mofo
18-The music industry is a complex landscape. What aspects of it do you truly appreciate and find rewarding, and conversely, what are some of the frustrations or challenges you’ve encountered?
Actually being good at what I do is the greatest reward, Frustrating parts of it is high key the people who expect upcoming artists or less achieved at the moment artists to meat ride or every gem they drop is a jewel that needs to be kept and if you don’t listen you won’t ever make it, I can’t stand people like that because don’t try to humble me by gassing yourself that’s called flexxin on a nih where I’m from an iont take kindly to that form of disrespect, as you see it’s still frustrating, I’m still growing.
19-Your fans are the heartbeat of your musical journey. How do you cultivate that connection and create a community around your music? What does that relationship mean to you?
Seeing them show me so much love lets me know they feel and see where I’m coming from and that no matter what you look like, been through, or go through you can still make it just don’t give up.
20-Your musical journey is a constant education. What’s been the most profound lesson you’ve learned so far, something that has truly shaped your approach as an artist and as a person?
Your best work doesn’t exist , always strive to top your last.
21-Take us back to a performance that’s etched in your memory. What made it so unforgettable? Was it the energy of the crowd, a personal breakthrough, or something unexpected that happened on stage?
I remember every performance I’ve ever done because I reflect back on the previous ones to see what I could have done different or better, my performance game elevated for fact I feel I’m already in front of millions now even if it’s just 2 people in the crowd.
22-Looking ahead, what’s on the horizon for you? What are your aspirations, your dreams, and what exciting projects can fans anticipate in the near future?
Right now I’m working on 2 different projects one called “TrapNB” which is more focused towards the relations and relationship side of my music and “TRapper” which is solely focused on that street shi I’m confident they both gone make a major impact to the game mainstream and underground.
23-Stepping onto the stage is a unique experience. What’s the biggest challenge you navigate as a performer, and how do you overcome it to deliver a powerful show?
Rehearsel, I rehearse so much in my private time by the time I get there it’s like second nature.
24-Life throws curveballs. Can you share a time when you faced significant adversity, either personally or professionally, and how you channeled that experience into your music or your artistic growth?
That Bid I did, an 6 months later got tied up in Oklahoma and jailed there for 5 months those 5 months reopened my eyes to what I had already seen and was falling back off track but while I was in there I had to cut ties with the last couple people that wasn’t meant to be on this road with me and met some that’s apart of it now and it made my wordplay even more wordier my creativity be goin crazy in isolated environments like a hyperbolic time chamber if you familiar with dragon ball z.
25-In your opinion, what’s the most indispensable quality for an artist striving for success in today’s music world? Is it resilience, creativity, authenticity, or something else entirely?
Its all of those things to say the least
26-The music industry can be demanding. What keeps your fire burning? How do you stay motivated and laser-focused on your goals, especially when faced with challenges?
Im usually self motivated but as do all of us I do fall upon times where I lose motivation, forget that patience and time comes with longevity, when that happens the love and support of my wife or my son or my dogs usually gets me out of it, some people you can’t express it to because they’ll just feed into it and convince you you need a plan B and it ain’t no plan B this is the ONLY plan, you wont lose that way.
27-Do you have a particular song or project in your discography that feels especially close to your heart? What’s the story behind it, and why does it resonate so deeply with you?
I have a song on YouTube called “Wassam” it’s a song I wrote about my older brother it’s still hard for me to listen to it because that’s a wound that hasn’t fully healed yet there’s more to be told about my older brother but I won’t do it until the world shows me it’s paying attention because I’m not letting it fall on deaf ears that’s how much it means to me.
28-Artists often reflect and shape society. What do you believe is the role of an artist in the world today? Do you see yourself as a storyteller, a commentator, a healer, or something else entirely?
Realistically my job is to be the person to have the perfect song for how your feeling and that be any mood, that’s why I keep my creativity open minded especially if I don’t have a song of my own to listen to when I’m feeling a certain way it makes me think “hmmm I need a song for this moment made by me tho”.
29-Touring is a whirlwind experience. What are the highs and lows of life on the road for you? What do you love most about touring, and what aspects do you find the most challenging?
Traveling is the fun part seeing new places new people and you actually have status or people stare at you because they can tell your somebody of importance I love that but I hate the riding in a vehicle for hours on end if we’re not taking a plane which I prefer to drive because you can’t smoke on a plane lol.
